Elden snorted softly, looking sideways at Valand. "You think it's right for a wolf to walk into a territory and claim it for his own. You have been here longer, if anything, you should step up." He tilted his head and looked at the female again. "Without an alpha, we are merely rogues, wolves without a leader, a mish mash of personalities." He took a step or two towards her, his massive form quivering as he sniffed lightly at her scent. "You are a female, maybe a brave one, but one none the less." His ear twitched backwards as he heard the same rustling that Valand had. He turned, a soft growl escaping him. It was of no threat, but Elden had been traveling for many days, and was very hungry.
"If you would excuse me," he said politely to the two wolves as he crept forwards. It was a rabbit, he could just make out the soft fur and two long ears in a nearby bush. Elden held himself low. Most wolves would ignore a rabbit, but he was so hungry. Saliva dripped from his jaws as he watched for movement. As soon as the critter shifted again and made another rustle, the large wolf pounced forwards, a low rumble escaping him as he landed upon the rabbit. His sheer weight probably killed the animal, but he brought his powerful jaws down upon it just to be sure. After a few moments of scuffling, he emerged with the little animal hanging from his jaws. "I'm hungry," he said in a muffled voice before dropping the animal on the floor and laying down again, gripping it between his front paws.

A laugh erupted from the wolf's throat "I'm an old wolf, Elden," he said through a chuckle. "Now, now, neither of us implied or said anything simply because you are a female." well, atleast he didn't want to think of her to be any different. She was quite quick to jump the gun, though. Valand had dismissed the faint noise in the bushes but turned to Elden after his quiet growl.
He observed. Watching the black mass crouch low, seeing the clear hunger. The wolf was quite surprised at his acquaintance's ability to stand well after not eating for what seemed to be a while. The little creature had departed. Valand continued to be a spectator as Elden walked back with the limp form of a rabbit dangling from mighty jaws. He only nodded to the large wolf's comment and allowed him to enjoy the catch. "So, Windcatcher," he continued "What brings you to these lands?"

She smiled, and looked up to the older white wolf. "Nothing much..." She peered to the other black wolf who was vigorously eating the poor rabbit. "Just interest." She sat up, and smiled. "But I guess you could say it was another wolf's prescensce that brought me here. I used to be a loner, though. I said to myself; 'once a loner, always a loner.' But after a while I was half-starved and figured that I needed a pack. So, I followed the first real wolf scent a got, and ended up here." She glanced towards the black wolf, who was almost finished with his meal. "Let's hope that there was nothing meant by it. I am a female, yes, I will not doubt that, but do not think of me as weak. That, I will promise you is a big mistake." She smiled in the sort of serious, but playful way, and stood up, so all her white paws were showing. "It's just that all the males I usually meet predict me as a 'weak, slow-minded female.'" She looked down at her paws. "Sorry...I just have felt different things in the past. And actually meeting males that don't care before has kind of changed me. But not too much!" She smiled happily, and sits down again, looking as the wolf finished his kill. She rolled her eyes. "I guess I need to find something to eat myself..."

As the two wolves talked, he gnawed away at the rabbit, the small animal barely filling a whole in the stomach of the large beast. He got most of the tasty bits off the rabbit, the bits he liked the most, before tossing it over to the female as she mentioned that she needed to get some food too. "I haven't eaten it all," he said gruffly, his tongue sliding out from inside his mouth to clean off the remains of his meal. He sat up and sighed, curling his tail around his hind quarters. "I really do not feel that it would be right for me to assume command," the wolf said politely to the other male, his green eyes appearing very sincere. He looked to the female, sniffing gently at her again as he watched her.
"I do not think any less of females until they give me reason to. When they prove to me that they are brave, I respect them, but if they are weak, I treat them as I would a male. I have just met you, I have no reason to think either way." What he spoke was true, he neither disliked nor liked the female. In fact he barely had an opinion on her. She seemed lively and willing enough, but whether that life would soon vanish as she settled down was another question. He lifted a paw and rubbed some of his meal off his muzzle, snorting lightly as he did so. His wet nose never stopped twitching, his ears never stopped moving. He was the picture of alertness, other than the fact he was scratching his nose quite vigorously.

"Ah, I see." he said with a smile spread on his broad muzzle "That's quite understandable. That's how I came here the first time around." He continued with a nod. Valand listened intently, analyzing every last word that came out of her mouth. The wolf nodded every once in a while, to make sure she knew he was paying some attention. Looking up briefly at the sky, seeing a few birds glide over, then back down to their small group. 'Hmmm, I wonder if this pack may be resurrected...if ever.' he pondered.
From what he gathered, Windcatcher was quite a free spirited wolf which was quite an admirable quality in most cases. Though is relaxed posture almost seemed a bit too relaxed, he was actually extremely alert, knowing every surrounding. Anything that moved, he heard.

She smiled abit, and looked down at the messy remains of the rabbit. She snorted, and took a few pieces, chewing them politley, yet aggresivley. "Well, that's at least good to know. A lot of the males I've met call me weak. They say I should stay home and watch over the pups." She snorts, and shakes her head. Taking a few more pieces from the rabbit, she licks her lips. She flashes a red claw mark on her back left leg, but quickly moves it back. Sitting down, she looks at the other males. "But I guess I must fight for what I believe, musn't I?" She smiled, showing her white teeth. She looked around, seeing no others. She raised her nose in the air, and took in deep whifs of the forest. Her ears perked up, and she looked around. Her stomach growling, she growled a bit, and looked towards the males, smiling. "I'll be back in a minute." Scurrying is heard around, and WindCatcher stands up. She turns around, her tail flickering, almost hitting the males' faces. She crouches low, then springs off into the dark shadow of the forest; following her nose.

Elden snapped lightly at Windcatcher's tail as she turned to dive into the forest - not aiming to catch it, just a playful snap. He watched her bound off, falling silent for a moment before looking at Valand and speaking lowly. "Maybe I'll take up this alpha thing." He tilted his head as he looked towards the trees where the female had run. Elden, alpha male of- oh, he did not even know the name of the pack. "What is this packland called, anyway?" He frowned and looked at Valand again. It would be important information if her were to try to take control of the small pack.
Elden wandered around in a small circle, surveying the territory around him and taking in the scents. He sat down beside a tree, pawing gently at the leaf litter beneath his feet. He slowly laid down in the shade of the tree, stretching out lazily.

The wolf continued nodding and listening until the female rose to her paws and simply allowed Windcatcher's tail to pass his face, sneezing in response. The silence that held between the two males was short lived and Valand turned to Elden as he spoke. Not making any notion other than twitching his ears to show he heard the wolf's booming voice. "Terminus is the pack's name." explained with a smile.
He still sat in the same spot, he hadn't moved but to switch to a more comfortable position. The leaves beneath him were pretty much leveled due to the brute's weight crushing down on them. Yawning, he watched his fellow wolf move about and find a new place to rest under the shade of a nearby tree. Slowly, he glanced into the direction where the female had went off to then back to the current area.

She returned minutes later with a big white rabbit held between her jaws, just dangling. She looked to the two males, and sat down in her same spot, but closer to them. She plopped her rabbit down, and sneezed. She wiped her nose with her paw, and licked her lips. She began to tear pieces from the rabbit, and after she had just finished pieces from it, she lied down, and looked at the others. "Taking the Alpha of a pack is a big responsibility. Taking care of the others, making pack desicions, and I guess later choosing a mate -- if you want one." She paused, and looked up as a bird flew overhead. She sighed, and yawned. "But I guess you could take it. But you'd have to show the pack you can be Alpha." She smiled, looking to Valand. "And I suppose you'd be close to a deputy?" She fully smiled, and looked down at her paws. She looked to a small red slash on her left paw, and licked at it. "Ur!" She licked her lips, and looked at her rabbit.

Elden sprawled out fully beneath the tree, sighing as his laid on his side and closed his eyes. It had been the first time he had rested in a long time. "My father was alpha," he said lazily, his tail flicking amongst the leaves loudly. "I learnt much from him, I learnt how to dominate a pack while still being one of the pack. Leylune was a grand pack, many members, maybe Terminus could one day be like that." A sigh escaped from him as he laid there, falling silent and almost looking as if he were asleep, but he was not. He was quiet for a while before he spoke up again.
"I suppose it would not hurt to try and be alpha. I'm sure I could fight off any competition. And as for a mate, I'm sure the right female will come along eventually." He appeared to be taking the whole thing rather casually, but Elden knew more than most what it took to be an alpha. Storm had died because he had stood up for his pack, soon falling the the hands of the rogues. But he had fought for those he led, and Elden would do the same if this small gathering they called a pack accepted him.

She shot a glance at Elden, and sighed. She licked her cut again, and then let it be. Her tail hit the ground as she looked around at the surroundings. "Oh," was the only thing she could say. Other than that, she was speechless; Elden had made his point about the pack, and about choosing a mate if he wanted one. Smiling, she glanced away. Thoughts came to mind as she thought about the pack, and what would happen with Elden in charge. Her ears perked, and glanced around to see a bird peck at a nearby hole, probably digging for worms. After a while, WindCatcher had found it was silent. Too silent. "I guess you could be, Elden." She tried to reassure herself that she'd be fine, again, with an Alpha like beforehand. She looked up to Elden in golden eyes. "But would you treat us more as lower ranks, or as friends, like now?" She had a feeling he'd be going with the more 'serious' matters, but she was curious -- and that always got the best of her. Her tail flickered back and forth, spinning leaves up. She rearranged her paws, until they were comfortable. Waiting was the hard part -- but soon she'd learn better.

He let out a hearty laugh "Perhaps, if the alpha so appoints me to be." He noted her cut, somewhat curious as to where it was from, but didn't inquire anything about it. Observing for a brief moment, the wolfess enjoying her meal and soon shifted his gaze. Valand looked over at the charcoal wolf, as he flopped over onto his side. In his opinion, the wolf looked like a dead fish. Just laying there, sprawled out under the shade of the forest.
Thinking for a brief moment on the brute's words, he replied "Your father must've been quite a leader." with a nod. If Elden did choose to step up, then possibly Valand would follow him. Oddly enough, the ivory pelted wolf had noticed that he was the only one who had not moved this whole time. Back in his day he would have been running around in circles simply to drain enough energy to sit still, but it seemed that age had begun to catch up to him for better or worse.

Elden licked his own muzzle lazily, a soft snort escaping as he did so. It was indeed true that he got such relaxed habits from his father, who had always been well aware of all dangers and the fact that he could destroy others just by sitting on them. "A leader must also be a friend, and a companion, otherwise he is not much of a leader. If he does not understand the needs of his pack by talking to them, then how can he understand how to help his pack?" The male lifted his head slightly to look at Windcatcher. "I would remain everyone's friend." Deciding it was best to look as if he were paying attention to the matter, he rolled onto his stomach again, looking over at Valand.
"If you would like to be beta, I see no reason why you could not be. You know these lands better than us, you would make a good advisor. That is to say, of course, you would like me to be alpha," he said slowly, looking to the female and then back to the male. To him, it still did not feel right that he was just taking the position. He wanted some form of backing up so it did not feel so wrong. "My father was indeed a great leader, and I intend to follow in his footsteps." The large male nodded slowly, crossing one front paw over the other. Their small gathering seemed a poor start to a pack, but he knew for sure that more would join, and they would soon have a thriving little community.

Trying to smile, she found it faded into a worried look. Elden would become alpha, Valand beta -- but then what was she? She rolled onto her pack, and licked at her paw. She coughed, and sighed. It was a big matter, not just a one day choice. Everything would be in order then, but it still felt wrong. She closed her eyes, and groaned. Glancing at Elden, she sat up a bit so she could turn her gaze to him. "Yes...I suppose so..." It seemed Elden was a very responsible wolf, but was he perfect for the pack? Her ears flickered, and her tail bet against the ground. "I suppose so...." Once she realized she was repeating herself, she sat up, and could only reply with the same words. What more was there to say? It seemed Valand wanted him as alpha, and then would be deputy. But of course, as she knew, she'd probably be a lower rank -- one to watch the pups, or do the back-up work. But they were different. How would they think of her?

"It looks like you know the mechanics of leadership pretty well," he said with a smile. Valand finally tired of sitting and dropped to the ground, rolling in the leaves before settling on his side. The wolf's underbelly had many scars, big and small. "I believe Alphen Advisor is more up my alley, if that is the case." he sneezed. His pelt was now littered with leaves and twigs, but Valand didn't care at all.
He directed a somewhat concerned gaze toward Windcatcher, who looked quite worried herself. Pondering on what position she could have. Obviously she wouldn't be happy watching pups, plus there were none to watch. Healer? Nah. Warrior? Not quite. Priestess? Don't think so. He stared at her to think of something she'd be content with. Her frame was thin, therefore she'd probably be light on her paws. "Say, are you a quick runner?" he asked.
